Lola Beccaria
was born in Galicia (El Ferrol, 1963) and lives in Madrid. She works at the Real Academia de la Lengua Española as a linguist and lexicologist.
She has reviewed books for ABC Cultural and for the now-defunct magazine El Urogallo. She is a feature writer for various publications.
She has written several novels: La debutante(Alba, 1996); La luna en Jorge (Destino, 2001), a runner-up for the Nadal Prize 2001; Una mujer desnuda (Anagrama, 2004), translated into various languages, and Mariposas en la nieve (Anagrama, 2006).
She has also written various short stories which have been published in various anthologies such as Paginas Amarillas (Lengua de Trapo, 1997) and she has discovered a lost work by Lope de Vega.

She was awarded with the Prize Azorín in 2009 with her novel El arte de perder.
